TECHnology, a Qualstar Middle East Partner, and Qualstar Corporation, a leading manufacturer of automated tape solutions for backup and archival storage, proudly announce the arrival of the new generation of RLS -8236 rackmount automated tape library featuring LTO technology.

The RLS-8236 and other members of the RLS family offer an unbeatable combination of exceptional storage density and throughput in a minimum of space. Debuting at PRO Technology’s GITEX DUBAI Fall 2003 booth No. Q4-2&Q4-2A, the RLS-8236 is the latest model in the RLS Series of rackmount tape libraries to be released, featuring enterprise-class capabilities. It is designed to meet the most intensive data storage needs of midsize films, with one or two LTO Generation 1 or LTO Generation 2 tape Drives, and holds up to 36 tapes in a compact 5U-high design. The fast data transfer rate of up to 432 gigabytes an hour, or one terabyte in less than two and half hours, enables users to rapidly backup and restore corporate-critical information.”PRO TECHnology, a Qualstar Middle east Partner, is excited to build the new release of RLS Series tape library with the new LTO Generation 2 tape drive which is the ideal choice for enterprise class data protection needs, particularly where the backup window is shrinking and critical data to be protected is growing with the new E-Government dimensions.” stated Shaban Al-Ahmad, Technical Director of PRO TECHnology.

GITEX’s 2003 announcement of the RLS-8236, in conjunction with Qualstar’s concurrent introduction of the midrange RLS-4445 tape library, reconfirms the company’s strategy of delivering extremely efficient and reliable storage solutions. “Qualstar’s libraries and the LTO tape drives have repeatedly proven their worth in the marketplace,” said Bob Covey, Qualstar’s vice president of marketing.

Qualstar’s RLS family of rackmount libraries supports today’s popular tape formats, including LTO, AIT and SDLT. Four models store between two and fourteen terabytes of data, making them ideal for midsize firms, and for departments at companies of all sizes.
